What a fantastic honor

Troop 4550 Awarded "Troop of the Year" for Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta's Snellville Service Unit

Fantastic honor. Girls you rock. I am so proud of all of you.

Great Mother/Daddy  Daughter Ornament Day today. The girls made some awesome ornaments.
Glass ornament with a photo of them inside or a snowman if they did not have a photo. A reindeer, beautiful bead ornament, and a scented Christmas tree, which can be hung on the tree or used as an air fresh ornament in the car.

Also, Mrs. Casandra Odum received an award for cookie mom with her daughter's last troop. We are so excited that they are both in our troop now. Mrs. Odum is taking on the cookie Booths this year. Thank you for that.

Wish to thank Mrs. Duff for the latkes, we may have to have you do that every year... and Marin for explaining the tradition for the Festival of Lights.

Thank you Ms. Joyce for your fantastic creative abilities in our ornament day today.

Thank you to all the parents that attended and brought food, cups, plates, etc.

Finally, thank you to all the scouts who donated to our Angel Tree this year. This will make a little girl very happy.

This troop would not be what it is if not for all the girls and parents who make a difference
I am very grateful and blessed to be a part of such a great group of girls and watching them group up if an honor

Ball game and opportunity for Cadettes

I think everyone had a great time at the ball game today. I would have loved it more if I won the 50/50 but still had a wonderful time.

The walk on the field was pretty cool.

We made 120.74 dollars the other night so I divided it up for the girls who were there the entire time and those that were there about half. It has been added to your Savannah fund

Opportunity for Cadettes only this includes ones that will bridge to cadettes in October. If you want to do this you will need to bring 10 dollars to the next meeting so I can order your spot in the event. The 10 dollars includes lunch. The cadettes will earn their tree badge. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from Foresters. Sydney, Bri, Joyce and myself are probably going.
Depending on the number of girls who want to go we can carpool down to Stone Mountain. Sorry Juniors but this is only for the Cadettes.... Your time will come up soon

For CADETTE Scouts:

Thank you for your previous participation in A Walk in the Forest for Boy and Girl Scouts. Please help us spread the word about this event by sharing it with other scouts in your area that have not attended in the past.
This year’s event will be held:
Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Stone Mountain Educational Annex
6826 James B. Rivers/Memorial Dr.
Stone Mountain, GA 30083
A Walk in the Forest for Metro-Atlanta Scouts is designed to help Boy Scouts, Webelos and Cadette Girl Scouts meet most or all of the requirements of the Forestry Merit Badge, Forester Activity Pin or Trees Badge. Merit Badge pre-work is required to complete the badge and is noted below. Scouts are divided into groups with fellow Boy Scouts, Webelos or Cadettes and work with professional foresters at various educational stations.
A Walk in the Forest for Metro Atlanta Scouts received a prestigious 1st Place National Recognition Award from The House Society of Delegates of the Society of American Foresters, Nov. 2011.
The cost is $10 per scout and leader.
Event Details:
  • Event gates open at 8 a.m.
  • The Stone Mountain Education Annex is located just outside the west gate entrance to Stone Mountain Park at 6826 James B. Rivers/Memorial Dr., Stone Mountain, GA 30083. You do not need to enter the park.
  • Check-in (8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.) - ONLY pre-registered scouts are eligible to attend (no siblings or last-minute attendees allowed). Event day registration is not available.
  • Scouts must register as a part of their troop/pack. Individual registration for single scouts is not available.
  • All scouts must be accompanied by a Scoutmaster/troop leader to supervise through various stations.
  • Clipboards, worksheets, lunch and event day patches are provided. T-shirts will be provided for a $10 donation.
  • Lunch includes a deli sandwich, cookie and soft drink and/or water. Please bring a picnic blanket and your own seating.
  • A Zero Waste Event Challenge will be conducted at lunch.
  • Chairs will not be provided at each station but please feel free to bring your own.
  • This event is for Cadette Girl Scouts only. Due to the specific badge work, Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts are not eligible.
  • By your group’s registration and attendance at this event, you consent to the use of any photos taken for promotional purposes.
  • Questions? Email: safwalkintheforest@gmail.com
  • The event will be held rain or shine!
  • Refunds for this event will not be issued.
Boy Scout Forestry Merit Badge pre-work: Each Boy Scout is expected to have read the Forestry Merit Badge pamphlet and must have a Blue Card for the Forestry Merit Badge signed by his Scoutmaster prior to arrival at the event. Merit badge pre-work will be emailed to Scoutmasters prior to the event, or a link will be provided to download the materials. If the following two requirements are brought to the event in writing, a registered merit badge counselor will collect and sign-off on them during the break. (4. a.,b.,c.,d.,e) and (5. a).

  6. I will provide a snack and drink for the first meeting (girls will sign up for future meetings)
If you need to pay the 8 dollars by debit or credit card we can do this. I do ask that you also pay the CC fee. So the total for 8 doallars would be 8.50 cents. I will have our troop Square at the meetings for these purposes. You can pay all Troop 4550 moneys by CC or Debit if you pay the fee that comes with it. 5 dollar service fee is 5.20.
