Awesome day

I am so proud of the girls in troop 4550

The cookie rally was a great success. 233 cans of food were raised for the Shepard house.
The other scouts had a lot of fun
Lunch at Hong Kong was good.
And finally the parade.

Sunday we have a meeting at 2pm and we have a special guest who will be sharing some holiday traditions. Our guest speaker is Mrs. Lori Duff if I am correct this involves Making and Eating food... That is traditions of the Jewish faith.

The second meeting in December is a mom daughter holiday ornament time. 5 dollars per girl. We had a lot of fun last year making ornaments with mom.

So if you have any coats you want to donate to the coat drive bring them to the next troop meeting. I need the coats prior to Nov. 10th Thank you for helping out with this community service project
 
In December we will have a mother daughter ornament workshop. Cost is 5 dollars. We will be making Grinch ornaments. I will bring a hot glue gun I remember last year was a lot of fun but a glue gun would have made it better. If you want more than one kit let me know I will be ordering them this coming week. I plan on ordering 12 kits for the 12 scouts.

Snellville Service Unit Patch Contest

We need your patch ideas!
If you want to participate I need your patch idea by Oct 26th. You can email it to me or call me and we can meet. The troop winner will go to Service unit competion. The winner of the service unit will be the patch that the service unit creates and gives out to all the girls.

First, we will ask each troop to hold a TROOP competition, then their TOP winner, will have their patch design submitted to the Service Unit level for the final competition.

Troop competition from Sept. 24th - Oct. 27th.

GUIDELINES:

Your design may be a circle, a rectangle or another shape.

Width & Height should be no more than 3" (inches)

Use up to 4 colors.

Mother Daughter Camping

Not sure about the rest of you but I am TIRED

I think everyone had a great time. Just to give a run down of our weekend

Agenda and directions to Camp Timber Ridge

We will be meeting at the camp ground. We are at Shady Oaks (for those who attended the Pebble Brook camping) this is located off the back entrance to the camp ground.
Parents you will be allowed to take your car to the camp site (drive very slow there will be girls everywhere) but you must move your car after you unload. Only three cars can be at the site. Both leaders will park there since we have a lot of supplies.

Directions:
Two ways
1. Take Highway 20 to 285 on the other side of Atlanta. Take a right onto 285 and take exit the exit for 78/278 headed to Mableton, you turn right on Pebblebrook road (the camp back entrance is on the left not far down).  If you miss this entrance the next right is Allen Rd and you will pass the Girl scout Store and then come to the camp..

2. Take 285 toward Sandy Springs/Burford/Duluth and once you get around to the Mableton area you will take a right on 78/278 and headed to Mableton, you turn right on Pebblebrook road (the camp back entrance is on the left not far down). If you miss this entrance the next right is Allen Rd and you will pass the Girl scout Store and then come to the camp..

Call me if you get lost or need help.
Please make sure you have all the supplies that you need.
Parents if you need anything let me know.
If you are coming up Saturday and want to send your food supplies contact another member or myself and we will transport them up to camp for you.

This should be a blast and the girls are thrilled to have you with us..

4-5pm Mother Daughter time (ideas, work a craft together, go for a walk, go watch the adventure course, spend some quality time with mom. (if your mom is not there you will be adopted for the weekend)
5-6 Girls cooking dinner (Moms go for a walk or read a book) Girl scouts do the cooking and cleaning
6pm Tacos in a bag dinner
630—7pm clean up time
7pm Craft time and badge time
830-9pm Smore time around the campfire with singing and dancing
9-930 girls run wild

Candy orders due and we have a HOME

First,
 Candy orders are due by the 12th. If you have not given it to me yet please make arrangements to get it to me asap. I need to place the orders and send in the information to counsel...

Second,
  We now have a home for our Girl Scout troop. Are meetings will be Kroger at Highway 78 and Rosebud in their meeting room. Our days are the same as the schedule I gave you we will just meet at Kroger.. Thank you Gretchen for making the calls for me.

Finally OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER camping trip. The girls are thrilled and excited about this trip. Moms if you can not make it your daughter is still welcome to come, another mom will inherit your child.. we don't want anyone to miss out just because a parent can't come.

Camp Timber Ridge in Mableton. You can get directions from the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta site or on this web site later this week or next. We leave next Friday and dinner will be at the camp site. Hotdogs and hamburgers are what the girls have decided upon. Should be a lot of fun. We have planned a few things.

Ceremony

Parents and Family are invited to attend the first Ceremony of the 2012-2013 Troop 4550 year.

Ceremony starts at 230
Location: Destination Park in Loganville
Please bring lawn chairs we will be presenting in the Pavilion if it is not taken or in the walking area (which you will need your lawn chair)

Ceremony includes Rededication ceremony, Bronze Award ceremony, Bridging ceremony, Court of Awards Ceremony, and moving up.

There are lots of awards being given out.

Todays meeting

The girls were very productive today:
we handed out the fall product sale info. You can start selling on Sept. 1,  orders are due to me by Oct 12. You must turn in the form that your parents sign stating you can participate..

We have a new volunteer as an assistant leader. Thank you Joyce Wang. We are glad and very excited about you joining the troop. Joyce will be working with the Cadettes and I will handle the Juniors and Brownies. As always we do a lot of mixing..

We worked on the Ceremony a bit for the second meeting in Sept.. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend. (cameras are welcome (just don't photo me)). we will be having out rededication ceremony, Bronze award ceremony, court of awards, and finally our Bridging ceremony.
the girls have worked very hard for all these awards and we hope you will come out and spend it with us as we celebrate.
Girls will arrive at 2 ceremony will start at 215 after which we will have refreshments..

Our first camping trip in the last weekend in Sept. This is a Loganville camping trip. It will also be mixed with Girl Scout day at the Zoo. Each girl will need to turn in 10 dollars for the trip and sign a trip form for camping as well as the zoo. we will camp out Friday night and Sat morning head to the zoo (930 we will arrive at the zoo) girls need to be in their uniforms for this trip.

Great First Meeting

What a great first meeting.....
I am so happy to see everyone back and excited about scouts.

Couple of things to add to your list of things we will be doing this year.

October 19-21 Camping at Camp TimberRidge with your MOM (yes, this includes Gretchen, Ginger Shauna, and a few other moms who are not used to camping. All moms are invited to have a mother daughter weekend at camp. Pending approval from Counsel.

This is a option on our camping in Sept.
The Saturday is Girl Scout day at the ZOO. So my thoughts are we can camp out Friday night, Sat we get up and head to the zoo then come back and camp out Saturday

If this sounds like a plan each girl will need to bring 10 dollars to the Sept meeting for the zoo. Must also have your uniform shirt and vest for the zoo. (I see a Zoo patch coming) lets go learn about the animals.

First meeting

Girl Scout time
First meeting August 19th at 2pm

  • This is off Old Loganville Rd
    We will meet in the pavilon at 2pm uniforms and all

    What we will do is:
    set up meeting times
    Talk about new location that will work for all girl scouts (since most live in Loganville now)

    Give out assignments you need to complete to become a junior or Cadette

    Talk about our moving up ceremony and Bronze award ceremony..

    Then discuss all the cool options for the coming year

    By the way the yard we worked on for our Bronze is fantastic and Mystie loves it. She is doing alright but is now wheelchair bound.
