Camping suggestion

In looking into the Girl Scout camps. I thought as our first camping trip we could do a Troop House Camping weekend.
If this is a possiblilty please let me know as soon as possible. I need to make the reservation asap.

Date January 7--9th

Camp Timber Ridge

Mableton, Ga.

Camp Timber Ridge 1/7/2011 1/9/2011 Troop House/$200 Available an alternative date
Camp Timber Ridge 1/28/2011 1/30/2011 Troop House/$200 Available
Cost per girl  Depends on how many are going. If all 12 the price is 18 dollars for the camp.
Then cost of food (this will be the girls making the food list with adult supervision) and then the girls dividing up the list on who brings what)

We would need parents to drive to the camp with the girls.. Any parent (female) that would like to go may do so but must fill out a volunteer application and be approved first.

My opinion is that this would be an awesome first camping trip. They will be in a troop house, with facilities, fire ring out side and get them used to the camping conditions. Then next trip we can do the tents.

Cookie sales start in January.. The more we sell the more we have as a troop to plan some events and who does not like Girl Scout Cookies..

FUTURE info.
Syd, Gabby, and I are going camping tomorrow night(Tuesday) up in Oconee National Forest at Lake Sinclair. So girls check with them to see how they liked it. Syd has not been camping since she was 2. This is Gabby's first time.

We plan on making smores over the open fire, cook bacon and eggs on the wood fire, pitch our tent, and have a lot of fun.

You might want to ask Santa for a sleeping bag for Chirstmas. 30--50 Degree bag (these will keep you warm) Walmart has some off brands for 15 bucks or 9.99 can't remember.
I have two tents that will hold all 12 girls. But if anyone else has a tent we can borrow that would be great too.

Lantern
Stove
water cooler
cooking pans and pots
egg holder
table cloth
matches and back up striker
fuel for stove and lantern
shovel
2 first aid kits.

Awesome meeting today for Troop 4550

Other then the meeting went way to fast and play time got pushed to 3 minutes till four. The girls accomplished a lot:
  1. The Brownies are almost done with the numbers and shapes badge (remember write down as many shapes as you can find in one room of your house)
  2. Juniors completed their Walking for Fitness Badge and took home their find their way badge to start work on.
  3. They set a date for their first Ceremony December 5, 2010 at 330 pm
  4. They worked on their Girl Scout Law skit (They are very impressive for one practice)
  5. They have some dates and info in their Scout folder
  6. We honored one of our co-leaders, Kim Hyman, with her first Girl Scout pin.
  7. Lauren picked out game today from a list of scout games and choose a trust game called Wind in the Willows
I hope the girls are having as much fun as a scout as  I am as a leader...

Just some info. for you

Specially priced tickets to Stone Mountain

Scout Talent Show

Annual Fund Event/Talent Show - Saturday, Nov. 6th from 6:00 - 8:00 at Zoar United Methodist Church - FREE EVENT... Have the parents bring the girls.  Free FOOD and entertainment.  And we have a special guest appearance from a very special lady that just had a birthday on Oct. 31st.

Just got this information so we will not be able to participate in the talent show since we have not had time to prepare but we can go and have fun. So if any parents want to send their daughter or come along Please do so. The church is across the street from where we meet (across 124) behind the vet clinic.

I will be attending with my two. Should be a lot of fun. Maybe next year we can plan and participate in it.
